Privacy Policy

PokeCheck ("we", "the site") is a free tool for identifying Pokémon Trading Card Game cards from a photo. This page explains what data we handle and why.
Card photos
Photos you upload (front and, optionally, back of a card) are sent to our server, processed in memory to read the card, and discarded immediately after the response is returned. They are never written to disk, never stored in a database, and never used for any purpose other than generating the result shown to you in that one request.
Other data we collect
- IP address: used only to enforce rate limits that keep the free service available to everyone (e.g. blocking a single source from sending an excessive number of requests). These counters are short-lived and are not linked to any other data about you.
- Standard web server/CDN logs: our hosting and CDN providers (see "Third parties" below) generate ordinary access logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent) as part of normal web operation and security monitoring.
We do not require or support account creation, and we do not store a history of your scans.
Third parties
- pokemontcg.io - the card reference database our server queries to look up set, rarity, and card data. No image or personal data is sent to this service, only card identifiers (e.g. set and card number).
- Cloudflare - provides our CDN, DNS, and abuse protection (e.g. bot filtering). Cloudflare sees standard connection metadata (such as your IP address) as part of routing traffic to us.
- Render - hosts our backend server, and sees the same kind of connection metadata while processing your requests.
- Google AdSense - once enabled, this site may show ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to serve ads and measure their performance, which can include using data to personalize the ads you see. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage your ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com. Where required, we will ask for your consent before showing personalized ads via an on-site consent banner.
Your choices
You can use PokeCheck's core card-checking feature without providing any personal information beyond your IP address (unavoidable for any web request). If a consent banner is shown for ads/cookies, you can decline personalization there. You can also use browser or device-level ad-blocking and tracking-protection tools at any time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the site changes (for example, when ads are enabled). The "last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
